Winter Wear Wanted

November 4, 2016

Winter is the hardest time of the year for many of our clients– men, women, and children who enter our programs with almost nothing to call their own.

“The cold sneaks up on you around this time of the year,” says Stephen, a resident of our Men’s Hello House who has been battling homelessness and addiction for three years. “If you’re living on the streets, you are never going to be prepared enough to take on the winter by yourself.  You’ll get desperate and that’s a slippery slope.”

But people like Stephen are not alone. You have the power to be their first line of defense against the perilous winter ahead.

Stephen believes that a gift as simple as a new coat has the power to inspire and uplift:

“With the new winter clothes provided by donations made to Volunteers of America, the elements become a lot more bearable. The new coats, hats, scarves, and gloves keep us warm and protected but are also reminders that we have people in our corner rooting for us. That’s what really makes the difference”

By donating new items from our Winter Wear Wish List, you will be extending an offering of warmth and a powerful feeling of hope.

We are in desperate need of:

  • Winter coats
  • Scarves
  • Waterproof gloves
  • Hats
  • Socks
  • Boots
  • Pajamas
  • Robes
  • Slippers
  • Blankets

  • T-Passes

For our Winter Wear Wish List, we are accepting items for men, women, and children being cared for by Volunteers of America Massachusetts.
