Operation Backpack

Back-to-school shopping is difficult for parents who are economically disadvantaged. When you’re living in poverty, homeless, or are at-risk of becoming homeless, a task as simple as purchasing school supplies for your children can seem virtually impossible. That’s why Volunteers of America Massachusetts is once again undertaking Operation Backpack.

Operation Backpack’s mission is simple: To provide disadvantaged children with essential tools for the upcoming school year.

Volunteers of America Massachusetts is looking for school supply donations for all grades (Pre-K through High School) in preparation for the upcoming scholastic year.

Your donation ensures that disadvantaged children in Massachusetts will have all the educational tools they need to learn and grow toward a better future.

Step 1: Download the supply list.

Step 2: Share the list at your workplace, school, or church and collect the donations OR purchase the items on the list yourself.

Step 3:  Humblebrag! Take pictures of your donation and throw them up on FacebookInstagram, or Twitter for everyone to see. Just don’t forget to use the hashtag #OPBackPack in your post!

Step 4: Deliver the backpacks and supplies to the address below by August 23rd.

Step 5: Volunteers of America Massachusetts distributes the backpacks to clients in need throughout our programs.

All backpacks should be delivered to:
