On May 9, 2009, 300 women from the City of Boston and beyond were treated to a mother's day celebration full of special guests, special gifts and special friends. The 14th Annual I Remember Mama Luncheon celebrated the essence and sacrifice of motherhood in appreciation for all they do. Special guests included the City of Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and first lady Angela Menino. Our celebrity host for the 14th year in a row was WCVB-TV Channel 5 news anchor Susan Wornick and her mother Myrna Billian with big band entertainment provided by Daddio's Swing Music Orchestra.

The MBTA, under the coordination of Deputy Chief Transportation Officer Jim Monahan and Bus Superintendent Marvin Jones, provided flawless shuttle service to and from the event to over 30 low-income senior centers and residences. The I Remember Mama Luncheon lifts the spirits of each woman by providing an unforgettable afternoon of fine dining, gifts, entertainment, companionship and smiles - at no cost to the guests. The ladies who attend, truly enjoy this day of special recognition, and most importantly, the knowledge that they are appreciated by their community.
