I Remember Mama
On May 7th, 2011, Volunteers of America Massachusetts celebrated its 16th Annual “I Remember Mama” luncheon at the Hilton Boston Logan Hotel with nearly 300 senior mothers. "I Remember Mama" is an annual Mother's Day celebration that acknowledges the multiple ways women nurture their families, their communities, and the world-at-large.
The "I Remember Mama" Luncheon genuinely lifted the spirits of each mother in attendance and provided an unforgettable afternoon of fine dining, gifts, entertainment and companionship. The ladies who attended, truly enjoyed this day of special recognition, and most importantly, the knowledge that they are appreciated by their community.

This year's "I Remember Mama" provided a day of happiness to women, who for a variety of reasons, would have otherwise been alone or forgotten on Mother's Day. This event has been hosted by WCVB-TV Channel 5 News Anchor, Susan Wornick and her mother Myrna Billian for 16 years.
Joining us again to share their appreciation and admiration for our seniors contributions to the city of Boston were the Honorable Mayor Thomas Menino and his wife Angela Menino.
Our other guest speakers at the celebration included Councilor Stephen J. Murphy from the City of Boston, our 15 year volunteer, Michael Satterwhite, and Diana Sampson, a graduate from the Hello House for Women.
Special thanks to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority for transporting our mothers to and from the event safely and graciously .Another big thank you to Dancing Deer Bakery, Wholefoods Market, WB Mason and the Hilton for contributing items to send home with our moms!
Thank you to our florists, Cheryl Cooper from Blissful Events and Madison Floral for donating corsages.
Thank you to Leslie Gordon of Lulu Joy Photography for donating her services and creating wonder memories for our moms!
Volunteers of America Massachusetts values the opportunity to provide these women with a delightful event year after year, yet none of this could be possible without the generous and continual support of our donors and volunteers and for that we say...Thank You!
