Boston Action TeamMajor League Baseball Players Trust

We would like to invite all high school students in the Greater Boston area to join an exciting partnership between the Boston Red Sox and Volunteers of America Massachusetts!

Volunteers of America and the Major League Baseball Players Trust are teaming up to inspire America’s youth to get involved in volunteering through the Action Team initiative. The aim of the program is to inspire leadership, service, and a culture of caring while having a great time!  This program helps youth meet their community service goals and uplift the inner-city of Boston.

The Action Team is made up of several selected students from Boston area high schools that serve as Team Captains, and work along with Major League baseball players to spread the word about the power of helping others through volunteering and service.  The Action Team encourages youth involvement in local volunteer projects and events.   I have enclosed additional information about this program and Volunteers of America Massachusetts for you to share with your principals and guidance officers.

We are inviting students throughout the Ciy of Boston to serve as Team Captains. We are looking for students who:

  • Have displayed leadership potential in a class or group
  • Are enthusiastic, effective communicators, and dependable
  • Will be sophomores, juniors (preferably) or seniors in the next school year

This is a thrilling opportunity to empower our youth and encourage them to give back to a city that has given so much.  Please call me directly at 617-522-8086, Ext 230 if you are interested in participating in this partnership.  Please keep in mind that there is an upcoming mandatory Action Team training at FenwayPark during June or August, so kindly respond as soon as possible.
