Susana, Bea and Emma, residents of Nashoba Park, share their stories…

A diverse group of residents make up the Nashoba Park family. Susana is a native of the Philippines, and a retired psychiatrist who practiced at a maximum-security prison in New York.

Bea grew up in the clothing store her parents ran in Norwalk, Connecticut. Bea’s three children are teachers, as are her five grandchildren.

At the age of five, Emma went to live with her grandparents who were sharecroppers in Plant City, Florida. She cooked for nine people and tended crops of strawberries, beans, peas, and other vegetables. Her formidable years were spent as a victim to segregation and racism.

One thing these three women share is a love for the Nashoba Park residents and staff. They feel everyone looks out for each other. Surrounded by people, their lives have improved and they enjoy keeping busy with scheduled and informal activities. It’s a good life, and it means a lot to them that they’re all connected.
